| VJ Ultra „No Sacred Land“ |
 |
The video art work called “No Sacred Land” was inspired by the birth of overwhelming megacities where skyscrapers and modernisation deflect from increasing poverty. The British visual jockey and photographer VJ Ultra captured their atmospheres in Beijing and Shanghai and accompanied his impressions with ancient Chinese music. The specific aspect is that he assigned to every instrument specific constantly returning themes. In the steady loop of neon lights and street scenes Buddha’s face slowly vanishes stepping aside to the progress of the technology era. www.vjultra.co.uk

With “the effect of rays II” Dorcas Müller (1973) examines interaction of creatures and the surrounding media. The video clip shows the visual result of an installation sounding thermal high keys and low keys of a party with the help of a thermo- graphic camera. During its filming the actors were able to see the result live on a screen and could actively participate in the progress. www.dorcasmueller.de

| Kathrin Graf "Revelations" & "vulnerable" |
 |
In Kathrin Graf’s (1984) video art works the female body predominates. The work “Revelations” scrutinizes identity, individual inner and outer world. Is the shell really what it looks like? Or will there be more? With “vulnerable” she takes up this subject. However, the vulnerability of this invisible skin plays the decisive role and brings up the question of proximity and distance.

In her art work Kate Gilmore (1975), a video performer from New York, confronts herself with the extraordinariness of the ordinary, which she encounters with irony and humour. In “Blue Ribbon” she is dressed in a delicate summer dress and farmer heels piling up hay bales. After every new layer of the pile she ties a blue ribbon round the bales, the same ribbon she is wearing in her hairs, always in danger to lose balance and to fall down. www.francosoffiantino.it www.kategilmore.com

“Sometimes I believe I could linger here on top for eternity but while thinking about I consider that it all might be just a gigantic independence fantasy.” In the video loop “Balance Beam” Tine Tillmann (1980) shows a gymnast taking a further leap again and again and always vanishes out of the screen for unusually long time. She freezes the moment where things cannot be postponed any more, the moment you have to make a decision between A or B. The satellite picture “Island” shows a fictive airport, where the landing is inescapable. www.tinetillmann.net
